About me
My name is Marc R. Schoenefeld, I come from Ennigerloh/Westfalia, current live in Muenster and am hooked to computers since the early 80's, where I wrote game trainers and other low-level tools for the C64, later Amiga, Atari ST and PC.
After studying and graduating in business informatics I got the job I deserved and was cursed to write Lotus Notes code in a banking IT shop. After finding out that software architecture for most managers basically means to drawing and presenting UML diagrams of stuff you are never allowed to implement, I turned towards reverse engineering, and soon found a victim by hacking the Java VM.
After a period of acquiring knowlege, I did understood more and more inner JVM details and iIn 2002 I presented my research results at Blackhat USA, numerous other conference talks followed and built the basis for my PhD thesis, which was published in May 2010.
During 2006 I decided to seek new challenges to move me nearer toward my core competences and interests, so I accepted an offer to join the Red Hat Security Response Team in mid 2007.
When I am not hacking stuff, I prefer to either walking with friends or the dogs, exercise or listen to music.
